MY PHILOSOPHY ON ARCHITECTURE & BEING AN ARCHITECT

It has always been my contention that architects, by definition, should be supreme craftsmen and builders. We are supposed to be artists, but this aspect has been lost in modern distortions of our purpose. Our roots are well established in a rich historical past. Our legacy, however, is not limited to simply buildings, but in all artistic endeavors (some more successful than others).

Architecture should be beautiful to the eye and mind, and function well into the future. This means different things to different people. Good architecture is an involved and time-consuming process requiring superlative analytic skills. Balance between needs vs. wants & budget vs. costs are the essential duties of any architect. While I am mainly a commercial architect I have done many residential projects. Effective architecture is balance. From plans to keeping an eye on things in the field. If you have interests in Illinois, Wisconsin or anywhere in the US, I provide the most comprehensive & balanced approach.

If your architect isn't asking lots of questions or answering yours, you're not getting proper service. Be prepared to place

lots of information on the planning table.

The Lake County Courthouse Annex & Remodel, Illinois. The interior uses a mix of Arabiscotto marble with black granite recessed accent banding. Other elements, such as the open 5-story stairway, use chromed steel for stringers and handrails with a full glass balustrade. The exterior utilized a blending of brick and precast concrete panels. All provide rich appeal in a modern design.

BENEFITS OF VIRTUAL MODELLING

Below is a simple temple prototype using 3-dimensional modeling software. It is an excellent tool for allowing both the architect & client to navigate around a virtual environment, see the product during construction phases and make changes/modification to the design BEFORE problems arise. With these tools the structure can be integrated with other engineering & contractor software to minimize errors, omissions & field changes, ultimately saving time and reducing costs.
